Sick of seeing the same types of photos saturating your feed? You know, the ones that look cool, but give you zero insight into who the couple is? The kind that if you tried to mimic with your partner would feel fake as hell? SAME. And hey, if you hate the thought of being in front of a camera, I get it. I hate it too! *gasp*

The good news is that I'm not here to change who you are or make you fit the mold that the algorithm favors. I'm here to remind you that your relationship and your day are unique and valid, and your photos should genuinely reflect that. By ensuring you feel comfortable and in your natural element, I capture those moments that are undeniably you – the ones where you're fully present and enjoying your partner's company. There's no need for "performing" or "modeling" for me – just be your awesome self and rest assured that you're seen and appreciated exactly as you are.

This is an unapologetic celebration of your love, not a cringe-fest!

This is more than just aesthetics and how things look. I always suggest digging deep and identifying how you want your day to feel. Do you want sentimental moments with your chosen family who've supported you through everything? Do you want to feel comfortable and relaxed or do you want the whole thing to feel like a wild party with your best pals? These are the feelings and vibes that are going to define your day - not a Pinterest board of poses that make you feel awkward!
I fully believe that it’s okay to say fuck the traditions that are dated as hell and just don’t sit right with you. Your wedding is a reflection of you: your love, your relationship, your values. If your dream is an intimate backyard ceremony followed by a catered meal from your favorite local restaurant or if you simply can’t imagine your day without all of your special people screaming along to Mr. Brightside on the dance floor, then Dear Maria, Count Me In for that too (see what I did there?).

Your wedding photos should look like who you are: quirks, inside jokes and goofiness included.

Values-driven business: I care about paying my assistants and second shooters a fair and equitable wage. When you book with me, you’re investing in other local creators as well. I’m also committed to making my business as environmentally friendly as possible, with a portion of my profits donated to climate friendly, LGBTQ+ affirming, and black-owned organizations

Couples Date night photography sessions

Couples’ sessions aren’t just reserved for folks who are engaged - they’re geared towards the soul partners who want to celebrate their partnership no matter what conventional “stage” they happen to be in. You don’t need a special reason to book a session - your love is reason enough.

These sessions are more date night than stiff, traditional photoshoots. So slip into your favorite pair of Docs and do what you love with who you love - whether it’s a trip to your favorite greenhouse or arcade bar, hanging out at a record store or snuggling at home with your pets, these sessions represent your rare and remarkable love.

Not married or engaged, but want to get photos done anyway? Hell yeah, let’s do it.

Stepping in front of a camera can feel incredibly intimate and vulnerable, and let's be honest, it can be awkward as hell. Building a connection with my clients is extremely important to me. I strive to earn your trust so that you feel safe, supported, and understood when you're in front of my camera. This is more than just a formal business relationship - it's deeply personal.

I firmly believe that if you're feeling uncomfortable and not vibing with your wedding photographer, it will show in your images. That's why I don't accept every couple who comes my way. I genuinely want to know what you love about your partner, what makes you laugh, and the unique silliness that only emerges when you're together. Your photo session will be unlike anyone else's because your relationship is unique. I want you to have an enjoyable experience and have fun with your partner.

Yes, I genuinely want to know what you love about your partner, what makes you laugh, and the unique silliness that only emerges when you're together.

I was concerned about being uncomfortable in front of the camera.

Janet did a great job of listening to me and checking in with me throughout the day as well as making everything so fun and easy. Her communication and ability to adapt put me at ease! Janet is so fun and if you aren't friends with her already, you will be by the end of the session. On top of that, she is professional and talented at what she does and wants nothing more than to capture the true essence of people. We couldn't be happier with how our engagement photos turned out!

Janet brings to life what we envision for our photos.

Janet brings to life what we envision for our photos. She takes pieces of what we love, combines them with her aesthetic creativity & brings all of it together in each photograph.

Sadie and Molly

She really helped us feel comfortable throughout the process

We LOVE the photos and are super appreciative of Janet's work on our wedding photography. She really helped us feel comfortable throughout the process and we're so glad we got to meet her!

Emma and Kabs

Janet was the best choice for our wedding photographer.

Janet was the best choice for our wedding photographer. We absolutely love her work and were so excited to have her capture our wedding. She was so much fun to work with, so open to my ideas for locations, and took such good care of us on our wedding day. We loved getting to spend so much of the day with her!

Hana and Mark

Our session was super fun and personable

Janet is super knowledgeable about posing not looking overly posed and what types of backgrounds or overall surrounding areas would look best. Our session was super fun and personable and she’s honestly the sweetest human!

Morgan and Daniel

We were a little nervous because we haven't taken many photos together

Janet made it fun right from the start and put us at ease instantly. We never felt like we were posing and everything felt very natural. It was easy to focus on each other as partners and have our own tender moments and those clearly came across in the final photos. Janet also gave us great tips on some cute poses that look amazing in photos!

Leah and Jeff

She focused on what mattered most to us

We felt completely at ease with Janet! Who isn’t nervous for their wedding, but she was so thoughtful and helped us be intentional and celebrate us. We also got so many compliments on her willingness to take pictures of our guests and how beautiful our photos were. She focused on what mattered most to us, each other & our family.

Kyra and John

Brutal honesty here - I am not a salesperson, and the thought of "selling myself" to potential couples makes me want to vom. Using shady tactics to pressure you into booking with me just isn't my style, and will never be my priority. Style is important, but so is substance. If you love someone's photos but don't click well with them personality-wise, your experience might not be super comfortable, and your photos could suffer as a result. I want you to find someone whose photos you love and who also feels like someone you've known forever (even if it's not me!).

At the end of the day, hiring a wedding photographer is a big decision. You're not only spending a lot of time with them on a day that can carry a lot of big emotions, but you're also trusting this person to help you make some important decisions leading up to it. So if you're not interested in forging that emotional connection with your wedding photographer or are simply looking for a low-cost option, I'm probably not your gal.

Human first, photographer/filmmaker second, business person last.

We like you, now what?!

Do you travel?

Hell yeah! I mainly serve couples in the Twin Cities and Iowa, but if you're looking for a non-traditional photographer or filmmaker then I'm absolutely down to follow wherever your love takes you!

Do you assist with wedding planning?

Yes, definitely! I fully embrace my identity as a Type A creative. I'll help you build a timeline that allows for all of the things you want captured and even find locations for your portrait session.

Do you photograph families or babies?

While my main focus is on couples, I'd be happy to refer you to folks who thrive in working with kids!

How will you deliver our photos?

Each fully edited gallery will be hosted on a private online link for you to download and share. I recommend downloading your full gallery as soon as possible. You will have full printing rights for the photos, and it would be an honor if you displayed them in your home! To prioritize sustainability and environmental friendliness, I currently do not offer prints through my business. However, I can assist you in finding a great local print shop!

What if we want you to stay longer at our event?

Once you reserve your wedding day, I will exclusively dedicate that time to you! I will not leave until the most important moments have been captured. If you need additional coverage, we can easily add more time to your day, and I will invoice you for the extra hours. The charge for each additional hour of coverage is $350.

What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?

I promise you that you are not as awkward as you think, and I don't expect you or your partner to be professional models or actors. I will not treat you as such! As I get to know you better through conversation, I will come up with activities and prompts for our session to create a laid-back and natural atmosphere, more like a relaxed date than a formal, posed session. I also create a customized playlist based on your favorite artists, which we can jam out to during the session. No need to worry about awkward silences!
