If you’re looking for a wedding venue in downtown Des Moines with chic and modern flair, look no further than Noce. It’s a personal favorite Des Moines wedding venue, and not just because it’s where I photographed my first wedding. The venue is a haven for music lovers, which I obviously appreciate, and also offers an elegant space for intimate gatherings. Choosing Noce as their summer wedding venue was a solid choice for Beth and Tom, who met in Des Moines and are art lovers.
Noce (pronounced no-ché) is a jazz and cabaret club in Des Moines that doubles as a private event space. The venue has a 100-seat cabaret lounge (the “Mainstage”) that hosts local and national acts year-round. Their “Backstage” is a 2500 square foot rental space that’s the perfect setting for events with under 200 guests. As a renovated warehouse, the space has a modern urban-industrial feel and boasts original hardwood and exposed brick.
Beth and Tom’s ceremony took place Backstage, complete with romantic string lighting and a beautiful flower arch as a backdrop. They also utilized Noce’s 60 foot customizable chalk wall, with Tom planning and drawing the design the night before. Backstage was then turned over for dinner, while the cabaret lounge hosted cocktails and the dancing portion of the evening.
Noce offers various rental options, including the backstage area, main stage area (depending on performance schedule) and full building. Ranging from $1950 – $4850, there are plenty of options no matter your budget.
Included in your rental is staffing for the bar and use of their professional audio equipment. So you don’t have to worry about hiring bartenders yourself or having to connect your phone via Bluetooth to blast your playlist! And best of all, you can use whoever you want for catering without additional fees or penalties.
Just 15 minutes from Des Moines International Airport, Noce is easily accessible for out of town guests. But if you’re like me and always stressed about parking, you’ll also be happy to know that there’s street parking and a parking garage nearby. And with plenty of hotels just minutes away (Beth and Tom stayed at Des Lux, a 3 minute drive), there’s plenty of convenient lodging options available for guests.
Located on Walnut Street downtown, Noce is close to the action on Grand while still being in its own world. It’s also within walking distance from several iconic Des Moines photo spots. Some locations we utilized for Beth and Tom’s photos were the mural at Exile, the Sculpture Park and the Krause Gateway Center.
If you are looking for a customizable wedding venue in downtown Des Moines, Noce is easily a solid choice. This venue has an amazing location and offers amenities that will make your wedding fully unique to you.
Beth and Tom’s wedding was a celebration that was a long time coming. With guests coming in from all across the country, their day was full of love and joyful reunions. The ceremony and reception at Noce were spirited and romantic, with guests thrilled to be celebrating the happy couple. The combination of trendy surroundings, modern vibes, and a supportive community of loved ones made the day truly special.
Here’s what Beth and Tom had to say about our time together: “Janet knows what she’s doing. She helped us with everything from timelines to what to expect to hints at how to make the most of the wedding day. She’s ultra-flexible and managed a large group of people really well, which is a great balance to have with a photographer. She delivered photos that looked AMAZING (seriously, so many positive comments on the photos) AND she delivered all of them in a month, which earns her mad respect.”
