If you’re looking for a venue that has a relaxed atmosphere with industrial design and modern touches, then this Brother Justus Minneapolis wedding is for you. The space’s ample natural light and effortless coziness set the tone for this elevated, intimate celebration.

This wedding reception at Brother Justus was the best way to spend an October afternoon. The couple, Clara (she/they) and Trent (he/him) had a private ceremony earlier in the year, but wanted to throw a separate reception for all of their people in the fall. My pal Ashley was their photographer for the evening, and she graciously invited me along to assist and shoot some video. It was so much fun to assist her and document the evening!

Clara and Trent curated the evening with activities and decor that they love. From handcrafted floral arrangements and thrifted glassware party favors, to a temporary tattoo station, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Clara and Trent’s reception video was a fun experiment in incorporating digital and tape footage. While I love my Sony colors and low light capability, busting out the vintage Handycam was perfect for this setting. The nostalgic feel of the grain perfectly complimented the vibe of the evening, and it blended with my Sony footage in such a fun and seamless way.

Why get married at Brother Justus?

Located in Northeast Minneapolis, Brother Justus Whisky Co is an ideal venue for offbeat celebrations like Clara and Trent’s. This hidden gem whiskey distillery is just 10 minutes north of downtown Minneapolis and 25 minutes from the airport.

It has flexible rental options, with cozy interior rooms and a scenic outdoor event space. With plenty of natural light, the Cocktail Room provides a relaxed ambiance and can host up to 200 guests. For a different feel, the Chapter Room includes views of the whiskey barrels and a beautiful stained glass display. And finally, their outdoor Terrace provides a relaxing atmosphere while overlooking Columbia Golf Course.

What does it cost to get married at Brother Justus?

Brother Justus allows full venue rentals for private events or semi-private rentals in one of their event spaces. The rental fees range from $100/hour – $5,000 total, depending on the space you book and the day of the week. All rentals include access to bar staff and a dedicated event manager.

The Cocktail Room

The Cocktail room is the main space when you first walk in. This space is modern and sleek, while maximizing comfort. The in-house seating in the Cocktail Room includes soft lounge chairs and high-top tables and bar stools. The Patio and Chapter Room (excluding Monday-Wednesday) are also included when you rent the Cocktail Room.

• Beverage minimum: $1,250 – $5,000
• Rental: $1,000 – $5,000

The Patio

The outdoor patio overlooks Columbia Golf Course. With stunning views, the patio provides a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy warmer weather. Service on the patio is included for private events Thursday-Sunday, and can be added to any rental of the Cocktail Room Monday-Wednesday for an additional fee.

• Beverage minimum: $1,500 – $2,500
• Rental: $100 – $150/hour

The Chapter Room

The Chapter Room is located within the barrel warehouse, and has views of whiskey barrels and behind-the-scenes distillery operations. This space is perfect for a getting ready suite or staging area.

• Capacity: 30 standing, 12 seated
• Beverage minimum: $1,000 – $2,000
• Rental: $100 – $200/hour

Add-ons include distillery tours and guided whiskey tastings, which both count toward your event’s beverage minimum.

Accessibility at Brother Justus

Brother Justus was designed with inclusivity at the forefront. They partnered with WeCo to make their space as accessible as possible. From low bars, to evenly distributed speakers, to wheelchair accessible single-stall restrooms, it’s clear that Brother Justus is committed to accessibility. There is also a wheelchair ramp leading up to the building, and the entryway and hallways are wide enough to accommodate mobility aids.

Parking at Brother Justus is easy as well. They have a large parking lot out front with 2 ADA spaces.
