10 Best Micro Wedding Venues in Minneapolis

  1. Alyssa says:

Feedback I gave directly to mother Co about my wedding on 7/11/2026 is below. I will be updating this review after the owners respond to my feedback.

Firstly, I adore mother co’s plants, vibes, and the small business you run. I’m grateful for the opportunity to look into having my wedding here. Carly was wonderful to work with and she made sure the vibe was beautiful and things ran smoothly during the event.

The feedback I mostly want to focus our discussion on is the two safety features and one event room you need to make adjustments for.

The event room – I inquired and then made it very clear that we did want to use the store space during cocktail hour. I planned my event around this. At this point, more than half of the venue I paid for was unusable day of and that was incredibly disappointing. If you offer using the store space as part of the event, it needs to be habitable and accessible.

The stairs leading to the courtyard were noted as unsafe for multiple of my guests. Similarly to the store room, you need to make this safe and accessible. Thank goodness nobody was hurt – I purchased venue insurance, not because it was required by your staff/contract, but because I wanted to cover my butt. You need to make that staircase work better with the doors. You also need to make clear the need for venue insurance for future events.

The air conditioning was honestly worthless. I was told the event would be cool. That’s what I told my guests in anticipation of the event and that’s what should have happened. I understand there was a heat wave, but you had forecasts. You could have taken care of this ahead of time and you did not. It was cooler outside in the sunny 95+ degree weather than inside at the wedding. One of my guests went back to the hotel and changed midway through our event. One of my guests that does not have a filter, told me this was a wedding venue from hell. My guests didn’t have the energy to stand during cocktail hour because of the heat, so out caterer took it upon themselves to present dinner 45 minutes early because everyone was sitting. It felt like the event was about to completely flop at that point and I started to tell people to go outside if they’re too hot. My sister ordered hand fans to be doordashed to the venue and it helped.

I really want to support what you guys are doing with the event option you offer. I want to be able to say “I had my wedding at mother co and I loved it. I would highly recommend” but at this point, I do not. Your inaction in anticipation of our venue temperature has lead directly to this experience for me and my guests. I cannot repeat my wedding and your venue lead to a bad experience for many of my guests. In an effort to allow other brides insight into mother Co weddings, I will be placing reviews of my experience. It’s unfortunate to say, but at this point, you are not prepared to be a wedding venue.

Ben, one of the owners was kind enough to listen to me in person about this.
At this time, mother Co has provided me a discount on a couple of plants (pictured), refunded the $60ish cost of the fans, and offered a complimentary attendance to their next reiki event for me and my husband. Considering the cost of hosting my wedding at mother Co was $4000+, I’ve asked for a meaningful partial refund and requested that they make changes to their event hospitality based on my feedback as well.
